Meet Matilda Reyes

Matilda Reyes is a storyteller with a wicked red pen and a soft spot for dry humor, sharp dialogue, and characters who bite back. An author of urban fantasy, paranormal romance, and romantasy, Matilda crafts worlds where magic and mystery collide with pulse‑pounding adventure.

Originally born and raised in the Bronx, NY, Matilda’s love for storytelling began amidst city streets and seasons that never failed to surprise her from hot and humid summers to seriously cold snowy winters. She developed a lifelong affection for urban fantasy classics like “The Dresden Files” and “The Iron Druid Chronicles”, influences that echo in her own work today. Her published works include “The Order of Vespers” universe part of her ongoing “Vespers Chronicles” as well as “The Black Cauldron Detective Agency” series, starting with “Unearthly Magik”. In these pages, she blends supernatural crime‑solving with rich magical lore and unforgettable characters.

Matilda’s current projects include rewrites and edits for *The Vespers Chronicles* and *Black Cauldron Detective Agency* planned for release within the next year. She is also working on a romantasy that will explore elemental magic versus technomagic, and a supernatural academy tale, both slated for late 2027.

Before making her home in Costa Rica, Matilda lived and wrote across the U.S., including extended time on both the East and West Coasts. She’s also traveled the country attending comic conventions as both vendor and panelist, where she loves discussing the craft of writing, her ever‑growing TBR pile, and her creative inspirations.

Now settled in the Pura Vida lifestyle, she draws daily inspiration from the lush landscapes, volcanoes, coffee fields, and beaches that surround her. Alongside her journey is her loyal beta reader and cuddle buddy, the lovely Pretty Parker puppy, who keeps her company through every twist, spell, and adventure.
